Choosing a nursery is a very difficult job. Below are just a few points to guide you in your quest.
- All nurseries should be registered with the Belfast Trust and annually inspected by Social Services to ensure they are all complying with the minimum standards introduced by the government in 2012. You can ask to see a copy of the most recent on inspection report on file. Every nursery has a link social worker who can call at any point of the day. Their name should be displayed on the parents notice board should you have any questions you may wish to ask them regarding a particular day nursery.
- Childsplay operates a system in which like social services, parents are welcome to visit / view the nursery at any time. We believe you shouldn’t have to make an appointment to view a nursery. We find this gives potential parents a true insight into Childsplay. We do ask that if possible you do try to avoid between the times of midday and 2pm as this is rest time for most of our children.
- Next to your child’s safety is security. We operate an entrance code system which is all on external doors. This code is changed frequently. CCTV is also in operation throughout the buildings. Images are recorded for your safety and security.
In Childsplay all food is freshly prepared onsite which is providing our children with a well balanced nutritious menu all children with allergies or intolerances are catered for separately with parental guidance.
Our children enjoy their time in our Mud Garden in all weathers, as they grow their own vegetables and flowers, bury treasures with the help of diggers and bake wonderful mud cakes in the kitchen.
A separate area is assigned to quiet storytelling and another for hunting and watching bugs.
Our lower garden encourages road awareness complete with all road signs, vehicles and taxi bicycles, surrounding fences supporting water channels and opportunities for mark marking with paint brushes to chalk.
